Nancy served in WWII as a WAVE, doing occupational therapy with battle fatigued soldiers. She married William Redford after the war, and became a nurse, working both in hospitals and doctor's offices.
Nancy was a strong spirit who worked hard all her life to provide for her family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Baldwin, NY, and enjoyed many years as a member of the Women's Fellowship.
Nancy enjoyed the company of many dear friends, and would laugh with them as they shared their experiences raising families. Nancy loved classical music, and would listen to the opera on the radio every Saturday. She enjoyed the ballet and symphony, and would jump at the chance to experience any live performance.
Nancy was a wonderful mother, dear Grandmother, loving wife, and good friend. The family would like to thank the staff of Clarebridge Place of Castle Hills, for all of their loving care, and Vitas Hospice for all of the comfort that they provided Nancy in her final days.
A burial service in which Nancy will be interred along with her husband William, will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00 am on January 7, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Nancy to Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
