
Mrs.T. Weir Nell Schreiner Labatt Jr. of San Antonio, born April 20, 1916 in Kerrville, Texas died on Tuesday, October 9, 2001, after a ten-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was the great granddaughter of Captain Charles Schreiner, the head of a pioneer Alsacian family involved in general merchandise, banking, ranching, etc. in the hill country and Edwards Plateau regions of Texas. Her father was A.C."Junior" Schreiner Jr. of Kerrville and her mother was Nellie Ganter Schreiner, originally from Glasgow, Kentucky. She graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville and then attended private school on the East Coast for two years. In 1936 she made her debut in San Antonio and was a visiting duchess in the Coronation of the Queen during the 1937 Fiesta Week. She married T. Weir Labatt Jr. on February 4, 1938 and has lived in San Antonio since then, except for two years during World War II when she moved to Ogden, Utah to be with her husband, who was an officer in the US Navy. She lived in her home in Olmos Park for 61 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Junior League of San Antonio, San Antonio Country Club, and Shallow Water Navy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Schreiner Jr. of Kerrville; and her husband, T. Weir Labatt Jr. of San Antonio. She is survived by her two sons, Weir Labatt III and his wife, Laura, and Charles S. Labatt and his wife, Kathryn all of San Antonio; three grandchildren, Aimee S. Labatt Madden, her husband, Rodney and great granddaughter, Enderle Dallas, Thomas Labatt IV San Antonio; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in San Antonio and Kerrville. She was kindly and graciously assisted the past years by Juanita Hernandez, Hejinia Del Rio, Elvira Perez, and Viola Stevens. Incarnate Word Retirement Community has given her loving care since May of this year. Honorary pallbearers are Mrs. Harry S. Affleck, Mrs. Travis D. Bailey, Mrs. Sam Schwartzberg, Bond Davis, Blair P. Labatt Jr., Clyde Parker, William R. Rainey, and Edward L. Rehmann.
