Nelvina Ethel Fisher

Nelvina Ethel Fisher (nee Biddy) passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 102. She was born on May 28, 1921 to Nellye Mae Shoemaker and Horace Elmer Biddy in Decatur, Texas and grew up on the south side of San Antonio. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1939, where she was a member of Quill and Scroll Honor Society and the Purple Jackets and was an artist and senior typist with the La Retama yearbook staff. After graduation, Nelvina worked briefly for Tobin Aerial Surveys until her marriage to E. Paul Fisher in 1941. She and Paul were married for 51 years until his death in 1992.

Nelvina and Paul had three children, Nelda Kay Fisher May, James Paul Fisher, and Rebecca Fisher Overdorf. In addition to two grandchildren, Kimberly May Phillips and Kathleen May Malvern, Nelvina had five great grandchildren.

Nelvina was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Nellye Biddy; her loving husband, Ellis Paul Fisher; her daughter, Kay May; and her son, James Paul Fisher. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Overdorf; her granddaughters, Kimberly Phillips and Kathleen Malvern; and her five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas 78212. The procession will leave at 12:00 p.m. to Mission Burial Park South for a graveside ceremony beginning at 12:30 p.m. for any who wish to attend.

Pallbearers will be James Overdorf, Jeffrey Malvern, Travis Phillips, Ryan Phillips, and Colin Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels of San Antonio or Embrace Hospice of San Antonio.
