Neva Sue Ware

Neva Sue Ware, 91, of San Antonio, TX, passed away March 8, 2023 at Arden Park Assisted Living. She has joined in passing Sherrie Lynn (Ware) Fisk, Ross and Hermin Fisher as well as Lavita (Milligan) Fisher.

She was born in Martin County Texas on January 3, 1932. Neva Sue Ware graduated from Stanton High School and attended Abilene Christian College. She married Ted W. Ware, a veteran in the U.S. Navy, on October 5, 1951 in San Francisco, CA.

Neva S. Ware had a career as the secretary of Highland Hills Church of Christ. She also worked in cosmetics for Montgomery Wards. She was a member of Mac Arthur Park Church of Christ and had a passion for reading the Bible, volunteering at Church for missionary outreach, and her ministry work for World Bible School. She also enjoyed tending to her roses and flowers, her cats, sewing, and cooking. She had a passion for antiquing; glassware, copper and brass being her specialty. Neva had a special gift for hospitality and was an active member of her Adult Seniors Group. She enjoyed the simple things in life such as attending church and enjoying a good cup of coffee in her yard. Neva was a woman who was very sophisticated as well as prim and proper. She was also quite funny and had a wonderful sense of humor that could surprise you! Some of her favorite words were “Shoot!” or “Goodnight” and in times of tension, you could hear her whistling. During her time here on Earth, Neva, was a wonderful mom and housewife, grandmother (lovingly known as Grandmommy) and a good friend to many.

She is survived by her son, Ted Wayne Jr., grandchildren: Phillip, Sara, Devin, Jessica, Garrett, Colton and Micah; 15 great grandchildren, 1 great-great- grandchild, siblings: Lynn Fisher, Alvis Fisher, Laurie Amsler and Elvis Fisher as of 03/17/2023.

A funeral service for Neva will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218.
