Dear Garza Family, 
My condolences to all of you. I heard today March 2, that your husband and dad passed away a couple of weeks ago. I saw Mr. Gabriel Garza who told me of his passing. I remember when Aimee and I worked at his restaurant. I have great memories of Mr. Garza back during our Jefferson years! He was always so welcoming and kind. I could always tell how proud and loved you all were. Jen kept me up to date with Mr. Garza during our early Archdiocesan school council meetings. I pray that his memory will always be with you as a good and faithful servant.

What a dear person Uncle Nick was; what a very special family the Garza family is. Many blessings to all of them as they remember all the best there is to remember about Nick.

Mr Garza was a dear genttleman in every sense of the word. A beautiful man, inside & out, he was always a pleasant man. On behalf of myself & the rest of the staff at Jefferson Pharmacy, please accept our deepest sympathy. Our thoughts & prayers are with.

Coach Garza, as we knew him then was a great man. He taugh us to play football and so much more. I had the opportunity to be part of this football team at Washington Irving middle school in San Antonio. We won the city championship in 1951. No one scored against us and no one came into our 20 yard line. We played the final game at Alamo Stadium against the Harlandale Indians for the championship. Thank you coach for coming our way. Mr. Garza was a wonderful principal to me and my siblings at Woodlawn Elementary. He was especially patient with my younger brother Celso(Chito) who was in first grade and cried everyday. He would spend time talking to him and helped him get through the first grade.

I shall always remember my Uncle Nick as a man of honor and respect. May the Lord take you in his arms and console your love ones.

Mr. Garza hired me as a teacher back in 1974 to work with Migrant children. He demanded the best effort from his teachers because he knew that effort would benefit the children. Even after all these years, he is still Mr. Garza to me and I could never bring myself to address him in any other way. He always spoke of his family especially Mrs. Garza with true love and affection.

I am still with SAISD, hoping to retire this year and I happened to pick up the paper and saw Mr. Garza's picture. I recognized him right away. I always thought of him and am so sorry to hear of his passing. I learned so much from him and he was always correcting my spanish. I still carry that knowledge with me. I still brag about him because I was so blessed to have had his guidance since I was so young and so naive.

Dear Sarah, Jennifer, Herb, Nikki and Elise....and all of the great-grandchildren!
Please accept my sincerest condolences. I will always remember how kind and wonderful Nick was while I was at St. Paul's and I know how much he will be missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this time,and my memories of your family occupy a very special place in my heart...your beautiful eyes, heart-felt songs and generous spirits.

Our deepest sympathy to the Garza family. While I knew Nick when we were undergraduates at Trinity University, Mary Esther taught school at J.T.Brackenridge Elementary School when Nick was a principal there. His respect and kind regards for the students and parents he served is part of his wonderful legacy as an educator. He will be greatly missed.

To the family of Mr. Garza... I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I am a good friend of Nikki and Elise and the rest of the Smyrl family. I know how much he meant to you all, and how proud you all were of him. My deepest condolences. But I know that his memory will be kept alive. Nick Garza was the first principal I worked for at Lanier High School. He was always concerned about the welfare of the students and took his job as an educator very seriously. My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones.

Nick was a great friend and educator who cared so much for those students who felt neglected and abandoned. I know he made a difference for many of his students. They will always treasure his advice and love. May God bless his family.

Nick meant so much to us, first of all during our times at Trinity University, then as fellow team member on the Champion YMCA Volleyball team with my father, then as fellow educators. Susan, I remember our days at teaching at Madison Elementary. What a wonderful, thoughtful, caring person, Nick will leave us with many memories.

Mr. Garza, Nick as we all knew him, was my first Principal at J T Brackenridge when I began my teaching career in SAISD, 1965. He was my mentor and am very thankful to have worked under him though for a brief period of time. 
I am the daughter of Mrs. Bertha C. Gonzalez and the late Congressman Henry B. Gonzalez. My parents held Mr. Garza in high regard and with respect. 
We all need to rejoice in the memory of a wonderfully dedicated man that inspired many educators and was an inspiring role model for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nick Garza was a dear friend over the man years and will be remembered as a dedicated coach and administrator and a person who dearly loved the students and teachers that he worked with.
