

He is survived by a loving family who gave him his greatest pleasure - beloved wife of 63 years, Sarah Ann Sears Garza; five children: Susan Vernon Markworth; Jennifer Herb Smyrl; Nick E. Iris Garza Jr.; Georgina Bob Hind; Aimee Eddie Fite; grandchildren: Scott Markworth; Kelly Trent Murray; Nikki Eric Gross; Elise Moumin Quazi; Heather David Allen; Kimberly Hind; Rebecca Hind; Lara Todd Woody; Brenton Fite; great grandchildren: Amanda Markworth, Conor, Riley and Kenzie Murray; Samuel and Theo Gross; Madeline and Kayleigh Lopez; Makaela Woody; sisters: Isabel V. Garza, Eloise Benavides; brother: Ramiro Gloria Garza; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He faithfully served in the Air Force during WWII.
He taught in elementary, middle and high schools; served in administration, and as assistant superintendent in SAISD. A pioneer in bilingual education, he received many awards for dedicated service as a true advocate for the education and future of underprivileged children.
Visitation begins at the church on Monday, February 18th from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the church.
Interment at San Fernando Cemetery II.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Educational Foundation or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1321 El Paso, San Antonio.
