She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harry S Pierce Jr., who passed away in 1996; and 2 siblings, Joy Ross and John Word. She is survived by her son, Harry S Pierce III and wife Mary Lynn; granddaughter Heather Pierce; 3 greatgrandchildren, Madison, Hailee and Kyle; and sister, Ava Sue Sostarich and husband John; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Graduating with Honors from Southwest Texas State University in 1971, Nina focused even more on her passion for teaching.
A member of First Baptist Church, San Antonio, Nina’s strong Christian roots continued throughout her life. Her bible was always close at hand and every letter or note she wrote had a fitting verse added.
Due to health concerns for all, a private grave side ceremony will be held at the Bandera Cemetery, Bandera, Texas.
