

Norma “Jean” was born the youngest of 3 children. Her mother tragically died when she was just 4 months old. Norma excelled in school and graduated at the top of her class at Flemming High School & Hollins College, a small private women’s college in Virginia. She attended Nursing School at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Her first position as a Registered Nurse was in Mann, WV, where she met and married a young doctor, Jack Witte. The couple moved to Fresno, CA so that Jack could set up a medical practice. Norma helped raise Jack’s two children from a previous marriage, Cindy and Michael. Soon she would add two daughters of her own to the family, Laura and Sarah. Tragically, Jack died after on 10 years of marriage & Norma raised her children as a single parent. She worked as a hospital Charge Nurse & later as a public school Nurse for over 30 years. She retired and moved to San Antonio to live with her daughter, Laura. Norma loved her cocker spaniel puppies, murder mysteries, crossword puzzles and chocolate.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura, who lovingly cared for her, daughter, Sarah & 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa & Mason; sister, Virginia Boblett Quig; and sister-in-law, Patricia Boblett as well as a circle of friends from all across the country, including, Mike & Becky Perez and their children, Steven and Miranda.
Memorial contributions in Norma’s name can be made to the Humane Society of San Antonio. Per her wishes she was cremated and a private celebration of her life will held at a later date in VA.
