In his youth, he was very active in the San Antonio square dance community. Norman graduated from Highlands High School, where most knew him as Wayne. He received both his BA & MA from Southwest Texas State Teachers College. He returned to Highlands High School as a member of the faculty where he taught World History and English until the late 1990s.
Norman's post-retirement years were focused on his family: wife, Pamela Brinker O'Neill; daughter, Larisa Shannon O'Neill; son, Joshua Gage O'Neill; his daughter-in-law, Cindy Hall; and grandson, Marcus Russell O'Neill. A voracious reader, he had a wide variety of interests, and was known for his dry sense of humor. He will be sorely missed.
A Celebration of Life was held Sunday February 26 at 2:00 among family, friends and colleagues; Rev. Lin Alyn Duncan officiated.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to an outwardly-focused organization such as ACLU, Doctors without Borders, Animal Defense League, KLRN/PBS or KXTX/Texas Public Radio.
