Norman Wayne Schultze, father and grandfather passed away on January 7th, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 84 years old and was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 10, 1940, the son of Norman C. Schultze and Evelyn Brown Schultze. He attended Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania where he met Patricia “Patti” and were married in January 1965 until her death in 2013. He is survived by sons, Michael and wife Vickie, and grandchildren, Will, Kristen, Karie, and Anna of Maryville, TN; and son, Paul of San Antonio, Texas who will miss him greatly.
Norman worked for the US Air Force Office of Civilian Personnel Operations (OCPO) for 33 years, relocating to Randolph Air Force Base in 1976. Although it required extensive travel, he was most proud of his work implementing the Americans with Disability Act within the Command, and finding jobs for personnel at the many bases affected by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission.
Norm was an avid photographer of railroads and airplanes with many photos published in magazines and in online forums on which he met many good friends. He greatly enjoyed traveling around the country where he combined his love of history and photography by searching out unique and photogenic locations and subjects, always looking for something new. He was a frequent presence at air shows where he loved to hear the roar of radial engines on surviving WWII warbirds. As a railroad enthusiast from a young age, he spent many vacations along the tracks photographing trains in scenic locations in nearly every state.
He was a unique character, and the world will be less interesting without him.
