Ofelia "Faye" Avalos

Ofelia was born Ofelia Flores in Goliad, Texas and raised in Robstown/Corpus Christi, Texas.

She married Joe Avalos in 1960 and had 3 children, and though they divorced in 1987, they were all still a very close family at the time of her death.

She graduated from Robstown High School in 1957 and later received a Registered Nursing degree.

She worked as a nurse for over 40 years, starting as an LVN, becoming an RN floor nurse, Charge Nurse and ending her career as a Managing Hospital Nurse.

Ofelia is preceded in death by her son Joey Avalos, her parents Paz Flores and Manuela Leal Flores, her brothers Robert Flores, Rodolfo Flores and Paz Flores, and her sisters Oralia Chapa, Odilia De Los Santos and Ofilia Rodriguez.

Ofelia is survived by her son George Avalos, daughter Odilia Avalos Barton, son-in-law John Barton, and daughter-in-law Annie Avalos.

Pallbearers will be George Avalos, John Barton, Leo Rodriguez, James Barton and Hamilton Barton.

Visitation will be Wednesday May 21st, 5pm to 8pm, at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Ofelia will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Thursday May 22nd at 1pm, with a reception to follow at 2pm on premises. Minister Ram Lopez will be officiating.

Burial will be private for immediate family only.

The family wishes to extend its immense gratitude to All Seasons Hospice and Comfort Care Home for all their love, care and support of Ofelia in her last months.
