Ofelia R. Lomas born on November 15, 1914 in Von Ormy, TX went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2013 at the tender age of 98. She lived a full life and touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She set an example for her family and many others as a loving, caring, and a person of faith. When asked for the secret to a long life she replied, “to be good.” Mrs. Lomas is preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Lomas, Sr.; daughter, Ofelia Garcia; granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Mikel; great grandson, Matthew Ryan Castillo. She is survived by her children, Irma Castillo, Rebecca Gonzales (Braulio) and Alfredo (Al) Lomas, Jr. (Gloria Cabrera); brother, Lauro Reyes; son-in-law, Juan C. Garcia; also, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday January 27, 2013 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart from the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Monday January 28, 2013 for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 125 Whittier St. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery No.2.
