

Born on November 5, 1928, in Corozal, Puerto Rico, a small town in the mountains of the island where she was raised as the youngest of 8 children and where she met and married her husband of 72 years, Ismael Nevarez.
A devoted wife and mother to their 2 children, Olga Esther Nevarez-Custodio and Pedro Nevarez. A loving Grandmother to Marcia, Melissa, Edwin, Nicole, and Ashley and a Great Grandmother to Jedi, Matthew, Ayla, Nora, Nicolas, Eden, Ever, and Elli.
She spent 19 years as a devoted Army military spouse, traveling the world while being stationed in Iran, Taiwan, Paraguay, and several US installations before returning to Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
After Ismael retired, they made the move from Puerto Rico to San Antonio, TX where she loved living and has called home for over 40 years. Always active with her church, Sociedad Herencia Puertorriquena, Dinamicas, and her amazing gift & passion for gardening. She also never said no to a great conversation over coffee and dessert, especially a slice of Jim’s apple pie!
She was a sports and music enthusiast watching her children and grandchildren play sports, musical instruments, dance, and sing. She was an avid fan of professional soccer and basketball, GO SPURS GO!
A strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman who loved unconditionally and always put family first.
A viewing and service will be held on Tuesday, March 14th, from 3-7 pm, at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home,1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218. Interment will be held on Wednesday, March 15th at 10:45 am at Fort Sam National Cemetery.
