Olna Elizabeth Jay McFarland, affectionately known as "Jay", passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2017. She was born in Howe, Texas, on November 26, 1917 to Edgar Jay and Mary Emilie Wilson Jay and relocated to Dallas in 1935 where she lived until 2015 when she moved to San Antonio. She married Samuel Everett McFarland on February 26, 1938 and were married for 51 years until his death in 1989.
Jay was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ody Jay and Overton Jay; and her beloved husband, Samuel. She leaves behind daughters; Barbara Joseph and husband, Philip and Nancy Dickson and husband, Gary; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Jay was a member of East Grand Baptist Church in Dallas, now known as Grand View Baptist, from 1951 until her death. She taught adult Sunday school and was active in many church activities.
A graveside service will be held on May 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX.
