Oralia Lala was born on November 4, 1923 in San Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Fidel Lopez Flores, Sr., Inocencia Flores Sanchez, and her brothers Fidel Flores, Jr., and Raymond Richard Flores.
She was previously married to the late Ismael H. Garza Jr. for 33 years. She is survived by her children, Ora Lee Garza, Lidia Garza Morales, Margaret Flores Garza, Ismael F. Garza, Mary Alice Garza-Gonzales, and Robert F. Garza; thirteen grandchildren, Dee Dee Garcia, Jenny Garcia, Jaclyn Resendez, Gina Morales Sers, Monica Morales, Hilary Gonzales, Matthew Gonzales, Ana Lisa Garza, Lilia Cristina Garza, her two special angels, Ellie and Alex Garza, Johnny and Jennifer Voss, and two great grandchildren, Javier Morales Sers and Julianne Delgado.
We are all so proud of her; and although she faced tremendous obstacles in her life, including losing her mother when she was only four years old and living in an orphanage for a short time, she was a master in matters of life. Her father later married Eloisa Toscano and they were blessed with five other children.
She loved all her siblings and their families, Fidel Inez, Fred Josie, Josie Phil, Manuel, Oscar Virginia, Richard, Janie Pete, Julie Tom, and Regina Edwin.
She worked as a tour guide and danced at La Villita when she was a young woman. She was also a weaver there, and was in a documentary of La Villita.
She later received training as a nurse aide and provided tender care for many individuals. She was wise, loving, generous, and charitable. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and most of all, friend. Her beautiful smile will be remembered always, and as a friend of hers said, "she never hurt a soul." Her sense of humor had no bounds, and she appreciated the humor in even the smallest of everyday events. She forgave all for their transgressions, and taught her children that the better way is to forgive and be a better person. She touched our lives with her beautiful spirit and grace. We will miss her.
We thank Christus Santa Rosa Hospice for their care.
