Our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and friend, Oralia F. Roel, age79, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 with her family at her side. She was born in San Antonio, TX to wonderful parents, Pedro and Susie Farias on July 17, 1937.
She always placed her family first, making many sacrifices to ensure they had the best education to succeed in life. She had her career in Optometry and encouraged all of us to follow our dreams. Our Mom was the best cook and made time for us to enjoy the gatherings at her home; laughing and sharing family memories. Oralia did take pleasure in the game of Bingo and would let us know when she would win!
She knew what life was about. No one left her house with an empty stomach, without a hug or kiss, or without her saying "I love you". Never once did she ask for anything in return. She was truly our angel. We can cry because she is gone, or we can smile because she lived. Oralia showed us how to live life to the fullest and although her body is no longer with us, her soul and spirit will never leave us. She is the reason for our strength, our will to find peace, and no matter what, our unconditional love. Oralia never let anything get in her way of what she wanted in life and she wanted us to live and love the same way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roeglio Roel; their children: Ray Anthony Roel and Elizabeth Roel Mendoza; grandchildren: Jason Mendoza, Baldemar Rodriguez and Sgt. Matthew Elias Mendoza; parents, Pedro and Susie Farias; brother, Pedro Farias and sister, Corina Garcia.
Oralia is survived by her son, Roger Roel (Deborah); son-in-law, Raul Mendoza; daughters: Belinda Peterson, Susie Rodriguez (Baldemar) and Oralee Roel (Manuel Gonzales); grandchildren: Roger Ray Roel, Timothy Mendoza (Brenda), Sabrina and Dan Joshua Estrello, Christopher and Jermy Rodriguez and Tabatha Roel; great grandchildren: Matthew Mendoza, Brook, Emeily Hailey and Ethan Mendoza; siblings, Frank Farias, Henry Farias (Gloria), Janie Gallado (Robert), Victor Farias (Melony); Sister-in-Law, Genevieve Farias; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21st from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the chapel at Porter Loring on McCullough with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM.
On Saturday, October 22nd a Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 618 S. Grimes in San Antonio 78203 followed by interment in Mission San Jose Burial Park.
Our Mom was truly a woman ahead of her time, but she always made time for each and every one of her children and grandchildren ~ and for that, we are sincerely grateful.
