

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Neva Lee (Miller) Simmang, his parents, sister LaJean Tucker, sister MaryLou Cornell, and brother John W. Simmang, and an infant daughter.
He is survived by five children. Orville Simmang Jr and wife Loretta Davidson, Joy Burton and husband Dr. Francis C. Burton, Gary Simmang and wife Nancy, Gay Cude, and Billy Simmang, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends who love him.
Orville graduated in 1938 from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio where the same year he broke the city record for the javelin throw.
While working at Richters Bakery he met and married his loving wife Neva Lee on July 25, 1942. They were married 66 years at the time of her death on August 3, 2008.
Orville joined the U.S. Air Force in November, 1942 and served active duty during WWII and was honorably discharged in March 1946 and in the reserves until March 1953.
Orville retired from Alamo National Bank where he worked as a building maintenance foreman.
Orville was an avid hunter. He hunted at the Herbert M. Oppenheimer Ranch in Pearsall, Texas for more than 40 years. In 1999 at the age of 80 Orville took a 15 point buck that ranked No. 2 non-typical free ranging white tail deer which scored 196-6/8 in the Boone and Crockett ranking system. This is still the best deer ever harvested on that ranch and was the highlight of his hunting career.
Funeral arrangements through Porter Loring North. Visitation Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 6:00-9:00pm. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:00am at Shepherd King Lutheran Church 303 W. Ramsey Road with burial at 1:00pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Shepherd King Lutheran Church.
