Oscar Benavides III was born on July 29, 1966, in Laredo, Texas. He was a beloved son to Oscar Benavides and Elma Benavides, a caring brother to Clarissa Benavides, a devoted husband to Faith Chalitruangkul, and a proud and adoring father to Proy Chalitruangkul.
He grew up in Laredo, attended St. Joseph Catholic School, and graduated from J.W. Nixon High School before completing the equivalent of an associate’s degree in information systems at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Oscar dedicated many years of service to USAA in customer support, where his kindness and professionalism touched many lives.
Oscar found joy in life’s simple pleasures like attending concerts, riding BMX bikes, and cheering on the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Longhorns. His passion for music brought him happiness and created lasting connections with others who shared that love. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Oscar will forever be remembered for his good heart, generosity, and the love he poured into every relationship. His infectious laughter will be deeply missed, but his lively spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. To know him was to love him.
Services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Burial Ceremony at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78266.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), an organization that supports musicians, DJs, and music teachers by connecting them with affordable, life-saving healthcare. Music was one of Oscar’s greatest passions, and this cause honors his love for it. Please visit: https://web.charityengine.net/HAAMdonation2024 to donate in honor of Oscar Benavides III.
