In his youth, he was raised in Guajardo's Grocery and Meat Market, which was owned and operated by his parents, Justo and Ignacia Guajardo. Mr. Guajardo was a graduate of Lanier High School. As he later had his own family with his wife, Rosa Aurora, they established an ideal that side by side they would own and operate the same Guajardo's Grocery and Meat Market.
Their work ethic was to establish an academic future for their children. His philosophy in life was to give his children more opportunity through academic successes. He was very proud of those successes that each of his children, Elena, Elaine, Oscar and Patti achieved in their being awarded Masters' Degrees. Later, he was compelled to sell the family business.
Mr. Guajardo was employed with the S.A.I.S.D. as well as Edgewood I.S.D., as a bus driver assistant until last September when his health began to decline.
