Sending my heartfelt condolences, May God grant you all the strength during this hard time. I had the pleasure of working with Oscar and I consider myself lucky because of that. He was simply one of a kind! Kind, good hearted, always willing to help everyone, no questions asked. He’s terribly missed! I share with you all this picture ( I was told Oscar was never one to be in team pictures but this one was the exception!) our team will treasure this picture and honor his memory forever!

I had the pleasure of working with Oscar in living donor. He was the kindest, most supportive, and helpful coworker and human being. He was always smiling, he never questioned helping anyone and I never ever saw him get frustrated or upset. He ran circles around us and could do the work of the whole clinic on his own. He was trustworthy and hard working and his patients always had such a strong relationship with him. They knew that if Oscar was their nurse that he would have their back, as we always knew he had ours. I will miss all the laughs, the morning smiles and hellos. We would always say let’s protect Oscar at all costs because he was the gem of our clinic and program. He helped change so many lives ~ the world is a better place because of Oscar. He is and will always be missed terribly. We love you Oscar! My condolences to his friends and family.

Dear Mrs. Nava and Family,

I have sat down many times to write something about Oscar but struggle to find the words to express and capture his integrity, character and humility.  I had the honor of working directly with him for almost 17 years and there are few people that I hold in the same high regard as Oscar. He was my first preceptor when I joined the Live Donor team in 2009, and had the privilege of working with him in the Kidney Paired Donor program.  His regard for excellence was evident in how he treated his peers and patients and he was instrumental to the initial and continued success of a world leading program.  Oscar was consistently recognized  by his peers , physicians and patients as practicing at such a high bar that few have ever achieved. Please know that all this was always shared with him and he would just smile and say thanks.   His impact and legacy is immeasurable.   I am so blessed and thankful for being a part of his work family.

Oscar was a gentleman - always coming to the. Units to update staff and see patients and  their families .  His  death will be felt by all us who remember remember him.

Our heartfelt condolences.  Oscar's humility, compassion and unwavering kindness touched everyone around him.  It's been a privilege to share 24 work years with such a gentle soul.  I hope you find peace and comfort in the beautiful impact he had on your life and so many others.

Oscar was one of my first mentors when I was a young nurse at NEB ER. He was kind, patient, and humble. He led by example. He was soft-spoken and was filled with goodness. He will be missed.

The holidays won’t be the same without you Dad. Love you and missing you.

I had the pleasure of meeting Oscar when he came to work with us at MSTH/TTI Living Kidney Donor Program.  He was definitely a credit to his profession. His experience as a Registered Nurse and his dedication to his craft served him well. He was beloved by all of his patients and fellow staff members. Oscar’s gentle shyness and that beautiful, unforgettable smile endeared him to everyone who knew him. He didn’t need to be the loudest in the room—his presence alone brought comfort, warmth, and a quiet strength. And of course, we can’t think of Oscar without hearing his signature phrase: ‘Oh, for the love of…’ Whether he said it in exasperation, amusement, or affection, it never failed to make us laugh and remind us of the charm that was uniquely his. 
For his loving wife, Delia, and his beautiful family, we thank you for sharing him with us.
