

Ouida Diane Bailey, of Lakehills, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She was 80 years of age and attended at death by her Husband and two of her loving children.
Ouida was born in Madison, Wisconsin on August the 2nd, 1944 to James and Nancy Owen. Since her father was in the Air Force, she traveled extensively as a child, attending school in many locations, in and out of the United States, but graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, where she was a member of the Brahmadora Dance Team. She married Robert Bailey on August 29th, 1979 at Eisenhauer Road Baptist Church, in San Antonio.
When financial considerations prohibited her continuing her education, she took a job at San Antonio Retail Merchants, which led to an offer to train as a loan processor for Gill Savings and Loan. She continued her work in the mortgage industry, and in 1985 was offered the Management Position at the San Antonio Branch of the National, Norwest Mortgage Company, and became the only manager that did not have a college degree, all the while being a loving wife and partner to her husband and raising three children.
Ouida is preceded in death by her parents, James and Nancy Owen.
Ouida is survived by her husband, Robert Bailey. She had no siblings and did not know if that was good or bad. Her children and their spouses include, Jessica and Mike White of Spring Branch, Texas, Jennifer and Ken Kidd of Fergus Falls, Minnesota and Robert Jr. and Derika Bailey of College Station, Texas. Grandchildren by age include Tyler White and his wife Brooke, Kathleen Bailey, Olivia Bailey, Robert Bailey III and Conner Kidd. She had one Great Grandchild, Brynlee White, that she was able to hold in her arms three weeks before her passing.
A viewing, for family only, will be held at 9:30 AM, Monday, June 23rd, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home with a short service by Pastor Bill Shockley at the Burial Site at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, with arrangements by Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
