Patricia Booth Fidler passed away to be with her Lord, Wednesday, Jan. 5 in San Antonio Texas. She was 93 when she passed. Pat was born in San Antonio on Jan. 18, 1928, to Matt "Doc" and Helen Booth. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald H. Fidler Sr. and sister-inlaw Louise Fidler. She is survived by her children Donald H. Fidler Jr. (spouse Jacque) and Patricia Gilbert (spouse Doug); her grandchildren Annabel Fidler and Donald Henry Fidler III; sisters Mary Lyle and Madeline Hammerstein, and brother Matt Booth; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Pat attended Catholic schools in San Antonio and graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word (then Incarnate Word College). She became an educator and taught elementary school at Fort Sam Houston and at the original Castle Hills Elementary School in San Antonio. She met her future husband and love of her life on a blind date. It was set up by a friend who was a nurse at Wilford Hall where Don, a lieutenant from the Chicago area, had been sent for back surgery. They married six months later in April 1953, moving to Washington, D.C., after Don left the Air Force to attend law school at Georgetown. Pat taught in Catholic school while Don worked days in the U.S. Patent Office and attended law school at night. Their children were born while they were there.
The family later moved to Dallas and then Houston, where Pat and Don made their home for more than 40 years. Don was a successful patent attorney while the couple also owned a book bindery. Pat helped run the bindery as well as being the accountant. She moved back to her native San Antonio after his death in 2000, and spent the last 20 years of her life having fun with her grandchildren, making numerous friends in her Emerald Forest neighborhood and enjoying life. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love her. She was a generous and fun-loving woman who brought joy to many others. She had a deep love for all of her family and believed strongly in the love we have for each other.
The services for Pat will be live streamed on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. The Church and Burial Ceremonies will be limited to family only. Friends will be able to view the services remotely through the link below.
