Patricia Ann Krueger, born November 9, 1922, daughter of William and Blanche Jones, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2012. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Glen J. Krueger, three children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Growing up in Columbus, Nebraska, Pat and Glen married on February 26, 1944, and recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
Pat and Glen shared a great love of travel. Their kitchen and breakfast room walls are lined with ceramic tiles that mark the many places around the world they visited. They also shared a love of sports, both as spectators and players. Pat played golf and tennis as a young woman. As her love for Glen grew, so did her love of baseball. She developed a passion for scoring games in great detail, including when Don Larsen pitched a perfect game in the 1956 World Series. Pat and Glen shared a special affection for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Saint Louis Cardinals.
As one of the earliest members of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Pat dedicated years of service to the church and most recently could be found every week, as recently as this past Tuesday, in the church office using her talent in editing to proof the newsletter, Tower Notes.
She and Glen were part of the Mellow Fellows, a close-knit neighborhood group who raised children together and have become lifelong friends, and Pat was also a proud member of P.E.O., one of the first philanthropic sisterhood organizations.
Pat had an appreciation of the arts, with a special affection for poetry. She often quoted passages, including two of her favorites: "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer and "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" by William Wordsworth. Her inquisitive nature and quest for knowledge included a love of playing bridge, crossword puzzles and the jumble. She loved games in all forms, from print to computer and most recently on her new iPad.
Pat will be dearly missed by her friends and family. She touched so many lives across many generations..let this not be goodbye but instead until we meet again.
She is survived by her husband, Glen; daughter Jean and husband Bill Quinn, grandchildren Casey Quinn and James Quinn of the Chicago area; son Rev. Jerry Krueger and wife Rev. Susan Brown of Lubbock, grandson Will and wife Heidi Krueger of Midland, great grandchildren Hannah and Wyatt, grandsons Michael Krueger of Lubbock and John Krueger of Austin; daughter Janet Krueger and husband John Barr of Austin.
