Patricia Ann Long

Patricia Ann Long died on September 16, 2016 after a battle with cancer. She was born October 2, 1934 in Sun Oil Camp near Troup, Texas to William (Peter) and Una Mae Colwell. The family moved to Denton, Texas where was graduated from Denton High School in 1952 and the University of North Texas in 1955 with a degree in Library Science.

She married Pastor, Wilbert H. Long on July 6, 1956 and began her 60-year journey as a Pastor's wife: singing, playing the piano, teaching Sunday School classes, coordinating VBS and directing pre-school. For the last 52 years her energy was spent in the life of Northeast Baptist Church teaching every age from pre-school to adults.

Her kitchen was always busy as she sent casseroles and banana bread to church members, neighbors, medical personnel, and family including the newest generation of great-grandchildren and great-nephews. She was never too busy to stir up a dish to give to someone.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 60 years, Pastor, Wilbert H. Long; son, Mark Long (Lucy) of Houston; daughters, Leigh Ann Whisler (Chris) of San Antonio and Laura Roach (John) of Red Oak; 10 grandchildren, Shannon, Laurissa, Amanda, Samuel, Jeffrey, Jarrod, Martin, Clayton, Travis, Trish and sister, Judy Womack and three great-grandsons.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a Service at 11:00 a.m. at Northeast Baptist Church, 2930 MacArthur View, San Antonio, TX 78217. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
