

Patricia "Patsy" Sanchez, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 55. Born on July 24, 1969, to the late Roberto J. and Elia I. Moreno Sanchez, Patsy's gentle spirit and warm heart touched the lives of all who knew her.
Patsy's early years in San Antonio laid the foundation for a life characterized by compassion and a dedication to education. She pursued academic excellence with vigor, culminating in a master's degree that propelled her into a fulfilling career in education at Alamo Colleges. There, she became not just a teacher but a mentor, inspiring her students to reach for their dreams with the same tenacity she demonstrated.
While Patsy's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, her legacy will live on through her cherished family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Tyler Gorentz, whose memory remained a guiding star in her life. Patsy's spirit is carried forward by her devoted sister, Anna M. Valenzuela (Julio), and her brother, Robert Sanchez (Yvette). Her life partner, Rodolfo "Rudy" Hernandez, stands as a testament to her unwavering capacity for love. She is also survived by her nieces, Trisha Valenzuela (Matt), Emily Quinonez, and Eliza Quinonez, as well as her nephew, Joshua Valenzuela (Marisa), and her grand-niece, Sofia Valenzuela, and grand-nephews, Joshua Tyler Valenzuela and Evan Kai Quinonez. Her passing is also deeply felt by numerous other special family members and friends who were fortunate enough to experience Patsy's extraordinary friendship. Her colleagues and the countless students whose lives she touched will remember her as a pillar of support and a source of endless encouragement.
Patsy's life reminds us all to approach each day with kindness, to live with an open heart, and to cherish the connections we make along the way. Her story is not one of sorrow but a beautiful narrative of a life well-lived and a woman well-loved. Though she has departed from our sight, Patsy's luminous spirit will never fade from our hearts.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave., 78212. A procession will depart from Porter Loring Mortuary at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at San Fernando Cathedral, 115 Main Plaza, 78205.
