Born Patricia Ann Pigman in Waterloo, NY on April 1, 1939, the daughter of Ernest Pigman, Sr. and Doris Williamson, she was one of ten children. By the age of 25, she was the mother of seven. Then, as a single parent, she studied for years to earn a degree in nursing while working full-time, raising nine children, ironing, gardening, canning tomatoes, making black raspberry jam, and keeping a meticulously clean house.
As nursing supervisor at Clifton Springs Hospital, Pat was highly respected by nursing and physician staff alike for her clinical expertise, high level of skill, and supreme organization. She touched countless lives - patients, family, and staff- during her 42 years as a nurse, teacher, supervisor, mentor, and friend until her retirement in 2016.
Pat was also a gifted baker who crafted recipes for perfection and to accommodate a wide range of dietary restrictions. She shared her prolific output of goodies at work and at her home, where she held many very large gatherings of family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Edgar Pigman, Joyce Foulkrod, Diana Hardy, Mary Horning, and John Paul Pigman; her children Timothy Keery and Brenda Smith, and her grandson Eric Urwin. She is survived by her siblings Ernest Pigman, Jr., Thomas Pigman, Ronald Pigman, and Georgia Pigman; her children Kim Keery, Michael Keery, Tracy Robinson, Colleen Cornett, Brian Keery, Mark Watson, and Christopher Keery, as well as 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Pat did not want a funeral service. Instead, she asked that family and friends have a Celebration of Life. We will gather at 2 PM on Sunday, October 16, at Conquest Fire Hall in Port Byron, NY to share food, fellowship, photographs, and stories in remembrance of her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrew’s Food Cupboard in Rochester, NY.
