Pete was a builder at heart. With no formal training, he taught himself to construct Harley-Davidson motorcycles from the ground up, an accomplishment that reflected his patience and love for mechanics. His passion for cars was equally strong; he proudly collected Corvettes and was always improving them with his own hands and vision.
Beyond machines, Pete had a deep compassion for animals. He took in and cared for stray animals whenever he could and was the devoted owner of up to three cats at a time. Those who knew him remember his quiet generosity, determination, and the pride he took in doing things his own way. Before retirement, he worked as a Maintenance Operator at First Baptist Church and built a strong and fruitful relationship with the members of the church who kept up with him after retirement. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Oralia Lara; his sister, Monica Urbina; and his brother, Jose Lara.
He is survived by his son, Pete Anthony Lara (Tena); grandkids, Pete Anthony and Amyra, his sibling, Oralia Lara-Vargas (Robert); his niece, Melissa Benitez; and his nephews, Joey Lara, Franky Lara, and Erik Lara.
Pete M. Lara will be remembered for his skillful hands, kind heart, and the lasting impression he left on those who knew and loved him.
