
Peter Joseph "Pete" Clarkson, a resident of San Antonio since 1940, returned to our Lord on May 4, 2011.
Pete was the oldest of ten children born to Paul Joseph and Virginia Fischer Clarkson. After Pete's birth in Duncan, Oklahoma, the family moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, before finally settling in San Antonio when Pete was 17.
He is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Helen Rita Richter. He is survived by his three sons and their families: Paul and wife, Daphne; Larry and wife, Shirley; and Jeff. Surviving grandchildren are Amanda and husband, Jimmy Rakowitz; Christopher; Peter Joseph "P.J." and wife, Erin Blanke; Christie and husband, Joey Waldrip; and Sara. Surviving great grandchildren are Savannah and Sydney Rakowitz, and Harper and Brenden Waldrip. Pete is also survived by two sisters: Dorothy and husband, Albert DeWinne, and Mildred and husband, Jim Barger.
Pete was a World War II veteran and a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees from St. Mary's University. Until his retirement, Pete was an elementary school teacher at Olmos Elementary in North East Independent School District, teaching fourth, fifth, and sixth grades at various times. He was one of the founding parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, which he attended until his death.
Private family services will be held.
