Philip K. Meuser, born in Illinois on June 21, 1947, passed away at home December 13, 2013. Parents were Otto and Ann Meuser, and he is survived by his devoted wife, Katherine (Katy), daughters: Abigail (Alex) Wendel, Kansas City, MO, and Sara (Scott) Fath, Cincinnati, OH; stepsons: Wade (Elizabeth) Williams, Denver, CO, and Kelly King, Evansville, IN: sister, Winifred (Patrick) Jenkins, Alpharetta, GA, as well as nieces. Three grandchildren will sorely miss growing up without Grandpa Phil around. Numerous friends and relatives remember him saying a William James (Jimmy) Buffet quote: “Some of it’s magic, some of it’s tragic, but I had a good life all the way.” He worked his way through college singing in a band and throughout his life, he was enthralled with the likes of Buffet and Bob Dylan, just to name a few.
After graduating from Indiana University in 1969, and a member of Beta Theta Pi, he worked many years in the packaging industry primarily with Alcoa and Golden Aluminum (Coors Brewing) and recently ventured into sales within the energy industry. His early years found him volunteering in the mental health field and in later years he was an avid advocate for parents of college students. His passion was golf and one of his greatest feats was playing the Masters course.
Visitation begins on Friday, December 20, 2013, at Sunset North Funeral Home, at 1 PM, with a short Memorial Service following at 2 PM.
