'When I was an adolescent I began to experience pain in my left leg, I was referred to Dr. Craven by our family doctor and he treated me for over two years before he was able to diagnose a rare benign tumor. He told my parents he would probably never see another case like mine in his career. There was no procedure to remove it as it was inside the femoral neck. He devised his plan, shared it with me and the family and we agreed to let him attempt to remove it knowing that at 13 years old I could lose my entire leg. The surgery took 8 hours. I have a huge 11-inch scar from that surgery. It involved removing over half of the femoral neck and then taking a section of bone from my pelvis to graft. I remember having the surgery in a big operating room with a gallery at the university hospital and many other people observing. His procedure worked, saved my leg and within a day of the surgery I knew the tumor was gone because while I had surgical pain the pain I felt before was gone. He was my hero. After years of seeing him monthly, I actually missed him once I was healed. Rest in peace Dr.Craven I loved you for what you did for me, for your amazing bedside manner. Over the years you treated my Dad, my Mom, my brother and my sister for one thing or another. I'm so sad I discovered your passing today but I'm comforted by knowing you are living in eternal peace and happiness now, I hope to see you again when my time comes.'

'Randy was my Orthopedic Surgeon from 1988 until he retired. We have thought of him, his tenderness and his gentle spirit on many occasions. He, and other members of the team that he assembled, saved my left leg that was severely mangled, with subsequent infections. It's too long to write, but if you are ever interested, I would love to share a story that was life changing for me. He was a Godly man! We loved him dearly.'

She recovered so well: was back doing "the conga"at her nursing facility before long. At the office appt. come to find out we both went to BA in Dallas . 'Dr. Craven was my doctor for a huge portion of my life. He was one of my favorite doctors and I trusted him 100%. If he said that something did or did not need to be done then I did not need to hear anything else. I have missed him every day since he retired and will miss him even more now. Sometimes we would discuss politics or history at the end of my appointment and he would get that extra little twinkle in his eye so you knew it was something he really liked. Rest in peace Dr. C. you did great work here. Your legacy is secure in all of your patients that are better for knowing you. You will be greatly missed.'
