Phillip Evans Keen, a loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather, passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 95. Phillip’s passing came just one day before that of his beloved son, Steven, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. He was born on October 19, 1929, in Lebanon, Missouri to Vadie and James Keen.
Phillip served honorably in the United States Air Force, where he developed a sense of duty and discipline that guided him throughout his life. His time in the military shaped his character, instilling in him a sense of courage, resilience, and deep appreciation for the value of family.
Phillip had passions for photography, fishing, and traveling. He loved nothing more than setting off on adventures with his wife, Virginia, touring the country in the RV, traveling abroad on various cruises, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Whether fishing in serene lakes or the choppy waters of the Gulf, or visiting new places and meeting new people, he embraced the freedom of the open road and the joy of discovering new places with his wife by his side.
He dedicated himself to raising his sons, Steven and Gary, with love and wisdom, teaching them the importance of hard work, integrity, compassion, and independence. Phillip was the kind of father who could always be counted on, whether offering a listening ear, lending a helping hand, or sharing a laugh. He took pride in the abundant involvement he displayed as a father, being present for the biggest moments in his sons’ lives and all the little moments in between.
As a grandfather, Phillip’s heart was full of joy and pride. He cherished every moment with his granddaughters, taking time to play, teach, and create lasting memories with them. His love for them was unconditional, and he was always eager to share stories, offer guidance, and show his unwavering support. Phillip’s role as a grandfather brought him immense happiness, and his granddaughters were a constant source of light in his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, and his wife, Virginia. Phillip is survived by his son, Gary Wayne Keen (Lin); granddaughters, Jessica and Ashley Keen; brother, Willard Keen, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered not only for his dedication to his family but also for his warm heart, sense of humor, and zest for life.
