Rachel “Pastrano” Acuna 84, died June 26, 2013, with her family by her side in Remolino, San Antonio, Texas. She was born September 27, 1927, in Lockhart, Texas to Liborio and Adelina Perales. Along with her siblings she lost her parents at the age of 14. As a young girl, Rachel loved to go to dancing that led her meet her first husband, Lucas Pastrano and the father of her five children. Rachel was a homemaker while her husband worked for The City of San Antonio. Lucas and Rachel parted ways, and she began her career at Santa Rosa hospital where she worked her way up to becoming a supervisor over the housekeeping department. Her interests included family, dancing and watching her novelas. She devoted much of her time in preparing and selling her specialty “Cascarones” and using the proceeds to provide gift cards to her many grandchildren on Christmas. Rachel is survived by her children, Andres Pastrano and Yolanda, Cecilia Gloria Hernandez and Rudy, Thomas L. Pastrano and Monica, Gilbert “Doc” Pastrano and Jose Luis along with 14 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 4 sisters and 3 brothers and husband Jesus Acuna. A visitation will begin Friday, June 28, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. A procession will depart Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 9:30 am for Mass at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery # 2.
