He was born September 16, 1931, in Brady, Texas, to Juan and Elvira Sandoval.
Rafael worked in aircraft research and development for 34 years. He found joy in spending quality time with his grandchildren and family, and watching old western movies, especially those featuring John Wayne. Rafael was a loving and faithful man who celebrated life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Paul and Ramiro; and sister, Ninfa.
Rafael is survived by his wife of 47 years, Aurora Reyes Sandoval; son, Jude R. Sandoval and wife, Lisa; daughters, Laura C. Sandoval-Gomez and husband, Albert, Melissa V. Mesquiti and husband, Alex; cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Brittany, Zachary, Maverick, Prudence, and Samantha; sisters, Ernestina Garza and husband, Carlos, Sofia Bara and husband, Severo; brothers, Raymundo and wife, Mary, Reginaldo, Rudolfo and wife, Yolanda; numerous nieces and nephews.
