

Ray was born August 14, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas and completed his mission in life on September 23, 2024. Ray was born to parents Genero and Martina. He is preceded in death by his sister, Olga Ariza; brother, Fred; and grandson, Andre. Ray is survived by his loving wife Roselia, three daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Carlos, Rae Leeann and Fred, Roxann and Trey; grandchildren, Vincent and Adam (Ivette), great-grandchildren, Natali, Alexa and Noah; and brother, Nick. He loved them all dearly and would say of his daughters, “very amazingly intelligent and talented.”
Ray attended Sidney Lanier High School where he lettered in football, track and cross county. During his military service (27 years), he earned an Associates of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, as he served as a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. He would say his badge number was 008, after 007. He worked with federal, state, county and city law enforcement agencies. He received 6 Air Force Commendation medals as result of significant criminal and counterintelligence investigations. He worked with similar counterpart agencies in foreign countries.
After his military retirement in 1987, he worked in civil service at Fort Sam Houston where he worked in physical security and law enforcement functions. After 23 years at Fort Sam Houston, he retired as Chief of Police of Military/Civilian Police officers. Ray amassed 4 months short of 50 years of government service.
Ray was an all-around athlete. He competed in marathons until the age of 40. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Pan American Golf Association, where he scored a Hole in One (1977). He also liked bowling and during league play, Ray scored a 298 (opened with an 8 count on the last strike.)
