Raul was a proud graduate of Harlandale High School and Draughon's Business College. He dedicated 21 years to serving his country in the U.S. Army, where he retired as a Master Sergeant. Following his military career, Raul continued his service to his community, retiring from civil service after 10 years. He was an active member of the Shriner’s fraternity for over 20 years, contributing to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, and proudly served as the first Hispanic State Commander for Abud Saad Temple of San Antonio, Texas.
Raul’s passion for life extended beyond his professional accomplishments. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gambling, and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. An avid reader of western novels, Raul's interests were diverse, but it was his love for his family that defined him.
A dedicated family man, Raul's children were raised internationally due to his military service, with assignments in Alaska, Germany, and Panama, and a tour of duty in Vietnam. His pride and joy were his children's and grandchildren’s sports achievements, and his love and support for them were unmatched. Raul's influence on his family will forever be remembered, not only for his steadfast love but for the humor and joy he brought into their lives.
Raul will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His legacy of service, love, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him.
May he rest in peace.
