Dear Katy, 
I'm a friend of your Mom's so I feel like I know you a little bit. 
I know your Mom is very proud of you. 
I'm so sorry about the loss of your Dad. Nothing anybody says will make it better but I wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and the rest of your family and wishing you well. 
Two years ago on Mother's Day, my two kids lost their Dad, so I asked my son, who was 13 at the time, if he had any advice for you. 
Here's what Jamie said. 
"Don't let anyone tell you how to grieve and don't shoot the people who say really stupid stuff." 
That pretty much sums it up but if I were to add a little more, I'd say some people may try to tell you you're crying too much or too little or life goes on or get on with it or such things. They don't know. Trust what your heart tells you. Cry and / or laugh as much as you want. 
And secondly, lots of people have a really hard time knowing what to say so they end up saying goofy stuff. Try not to hold it against them. 
Remember people you don't even know are keeping you safe in their prayers.

As does everyone who has left a tribute, I have many wonderful and fun memories of Marc - riding around Ft. Sam on his blue Cushman Eagle, dancing at T.A.G, watching him coach my son's flag football team, and so many more. Marc was a gentle and generous soul who leaves an imprint on all of our hearts. Barbara, Deanna and Brian, Janet and Katy, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Marc used to live on Funston, across the street from me. He spent alot of time at our house talking sports w/my mom. We were really good friends. I am sorry to have lost touch with him. 
Please know how highly I thought of him.

I attended Jefferson High with Marc in the 60's and I remember him fondly. All of us "Lassos" used to faithfully attend the Mustang Basketball games and I remember his being one of the bb-ball guys.

Marc was larger than life and always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. We will miss your bright spirit in this world. God Bless your children through these sad days and may they never forget how much you loved them.

I wanted to send many prayers and thoughts to Marc's family. He was my favorite cousin and a wonderful person do be around. I loved spending time with him and he will truly be missed.

I have such fond memories of Marc as a young man. He was always such fun and had that unforgetable, ever present smile. We lost touch over the years, but when I heard he was ill just days before his death, I let myself return to wonderful memories of a long ago time when we were all such innocents. I want to share a story. Marc told me after his heart attack in August--when they had to take him so far under that his heart could rest but so far under that we thought he wasn't there--he said he dreamed he was on a great big piece of property, a hunting lease or a preserve, but it was big and beautiful and a long way away. He said he remembered all of his friends driving out there to see him and he kept saying "thank you for coming all the way out here to see me" and "gosh that was nice of you to drive all the way out here to visit"... Have comfort in knowing Marc heard every one of us that came to see him, talk to him, comfort him, be with him. Our loved ones who are "under" know we are there. Picture the big, strong, healthy, fun-loving, easy-going Marc, relaxed and enjoying that great, big hunting lease in the sky; where the steaks and chicken are on the grill; the friends and family are gathered around; the red wine and whiskey are flowing as freely as the jokes and the stories and the pranks and the love; and Deanna, Brian, Katy and all the babies that are and will be, will remember him for who he was and how he loved, forever and ever. Amen.

Marc, you will be missed by so so SO many friends and family and in a strange way, I already miss you. There was so much more time needed for you and your family and friends. We've been thru good times and bad times - but we have always been connected by our 2 children, Deanna and Brian and by our grandsons, Austin and Carson. I'm sad that you won't get to meet your new granddaughter - and that she will never know you. You will always be with us in our hearts and you'll be with Grammy, Granddaddy, Mammaw and Pappaw and Brock & Brody for eternity.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Marc had been a client and vendor to our company for years and we have shared many stories and great laughs. I will miss him popping in to see us and catching up on his family.

I never thought I'd have to say, "the big guy's gone"...and we're all going to miss him terribly. He was one of the rocks of our 1963 class, and his shoes won't be easy to fill. Marc, Richard Martin and I were all in the same advisory all 3 years at Jeff... 
and his death makes me so sad. Our lifetime is just not enough is it? Where did all the years go? My love to his family and closest friends...David and Lloyd, you did a great job of keeping us informed, thank you so much. Marc was such a solid part of our school years and our class reunions and he will be sorely missed...

Marc was such a good friend and I could always rely on him in time of need or just to have a good laugh with.

Marc was a hard working sales person who we came to know through David Yeakley. He was full of life and when he enetered a room his ever present smile radiated to all who saw him. He was taken at such a young age and he wil be sadly missed.

Marc will be missed by all. I remember him from high school and that was a long,long time ago. My heartfelt sympathy to the family.

I remember Marc as a "Kerbel Buff". He was always smiling and enjoyed his team mates so much!

She will miss her father but hopefully have so many precious memories of her time with him to carry her through her grief.
