Raymond H. Smith, also known as Ray, passed away on May 8, 2023, at the age of 90 in San Antonio. He was born on March 9, 1933, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ray was a kind and loving person, who will be dearly missed by his surviving family, including nephews W.L. Russell and David Ray Russell, great-nephews, and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Smith; brothers, Luciuos Smith and Ernie; sister Rose Russell; nephew Joe Russell; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
Ray served his country in the Air Force and was proud of his military associations. After his service, he pursued a career with the US Post Office, where he worked for many years. In his free time, Ray was an avid chess player and enjoyed playing the game with friends and family. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
