RC Donald Wilson was born in Osceola, Texas to Grady Wilson and Rosie Lee Weems Wilson on February 14, 1935. He was the fourth of eight children. RC passed away peacefully with his wife, Robbie, by his side on August 7, 2023. His kind heart and gentle spirit were never destroyed by Alzheimer’s cruelty as he sang praises to his Lord until his last day.
RC was raised on a small farm in Texas. As a young boy he tended crops and picked cotton alongside his siblings. Later, he worked construction jobs, and it was during that time he met his future wife, Robbie. In 1957 he was drafted into the United States Army, and then in April of 1958 he married Robbie just before he was transferred to a base in Germany.
After he was honorably discharged in the fall of 1959, RC joined Robbie in Texas and met his first child, Vicki, who was born while he was in Germany. They settled in Fort Worth where they welcomed their second child, Donald and third, Paula.
RC invested his career in construction on road and highway projects, focusing on culvert and bridge building. Over four decades he helped construct nearly every highway bridge in Fort Worth. His largest project was contributing to the construction of the D/FW airport. Because of his integrity and strong work ethic, RC was recruited to lead work crews and important state road projects. He cultivated relationships with crew members, company owners and state officials often facilitating conflict resolution.
RC was dedicated to his family and church community. He was present, available and attentive. He connected with all ages, helping elderly members with home repairs, chaperoning Royal Ranger camping trips, serving at Teen Challenge and chaperoning high school seniors on a cruise ship. He built relationships with his grandchildren, traveling to both coasts to stay connected.
RC lived a life of service, to God, his family, his church and his work. His faith was expressed through his hands and his actions as a dedicated husband and provider, loving father, grandfather and generous friend. He was a man of his word and quick to offer help wherever needed. RC closed every spoken prayer with, “keep us where you can use us”, a true reflection of his heart.
RC was preceded in death by parents, Rosie and Grady Wilson; brother, ML Wilson; sister, Helen Vinson; sister, Mary Layne; and sister, Rose Nell Carlye. RC is survived by wife, Robbie Wilson; daughter, Vicki Kaiser and husband Randy; son, Donald Wilson and wife Raquel; daughter, Paula Corey and husband Barry; grandchildren Christian Kaiser, Matthew Kaiser, Anders Corey and wife Ashley, Ella Corey, Samuel Corey, Brooklyn Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Lily Bustos, and Nadeley Bustos; great grandchildren Charlotte Corey, and one on the way - Bella Morrison; sister, Mable Allison; brother, JW Wilson; brother, Billy Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
