

Renita Shafer Fuentes, age 62, left us peacefully on March 8, 2025. Born in Del Rio, Texas to William and Maria Shafer, Renita was a loving wife and mother whose boundless devotion to her family illuminated every aspect of her life.
Renita's early career in healthcare showcased her compassionate spirit and dedication to the well-being of others. Her entrepreneurial journey in the trucking and transportation business demonstrated her tenacity and keen business acumen.
She is preceded in death by her cherished father, William Shafer, as well as beloved grandparents, Joe Clarence and Rosa Shafer, and Miguel and Victoria Lopez. Renita is lovingly remembered by her devoted mother, Maria N. Shafer, her husband, Leonel M. Fuentes, and her children, Lee Morgan Fuentes and Leslie Michelle Fuentes, along with her cherished siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.
Renita's impact extended beyond her family, leaving a lasting imprint on her community. She was a stalwart supporter of educational institutions, notably contributing to St. George Episcopal School and Antonian College Preparatory. Renita's tireless dedication to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America exemplified her commitment to nurturing young minds and hearts. Her involvement in numerous prayer groups highlighted her deep faith and desire to uplift others.
An avid crafter, Renita found joy in sewing, embroidery, quilting, and all manners of crafts. She delighted in creating gingerbread houses and cherished the art of baking. Her adventurous spirit shone through her hobbies such as scuba diving and traveling the world, particularly through her cruises and treasured moments on the beaches searching for sand dollars.
Renita's radiant smile and infectious laughter were a ray of sunshine on cloudy days, leaving an indelible imprint on everyone she met. Her joyous heart and generous spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
She is loved deeply and will be missed beyond measure.
A visitation for Renita will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232, followed by a rosary & vigil at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Padre Pio Catholic Church, 3843 Bulverde Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78259, with a funeral procession after for a committal service at 1:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218.
