

Jack was born in Leaksville, North Carolina to Richard L. Cardwell and Mildred Knight on January 20, 1948. He went to school in Stoneville, North Carolina and attended The University of North Carolina.
He married LaVonnda Mae Snyder on December 19, 1988, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a veteran of Vietnam, serving as an Aircraft Crewman of the United States Army in the 11th ACR Unit and awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
Jack was known to be many things during his life: A son, husband, father, friend, Athlete, card dealer, gambler and War Veteran. Jack was also a storyteller and a big-time people person in life he never encountered a situation he could not talk his way into or out of and he always left a lasting impression on all those he touched as his jokes could make anyone smile.
Jack is survived by his wife LaVonnda Cardwell, Sons Richard and Justin, Daughters Christy and Arrica, Siblings Billy and Susan, Seven Grandchildren.
A visitation for Richard will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A committal service will occur on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
