

Richard was born in Robstown, Texas to Casimiro and Frances Garcia on October, 1, 1946. He attended Sacred Heart Primary School and was a proud graduate of Holy Cross High School on the west side of San Antonio in 1965. He served in the Coast Guard as a reservist before marrying Maria Alma Ayala on January 28th, 1984. Richard worked in many different locations as a jeweler for over 35 years within the San Antonio, Seguin and Pleasanton communities before opening his own shop at the Eisenhauer Flea Market were he was a familiar and trusted resource to his many loyal customers. As a youth, he was heavily involved in the Catholic Church and served as an alter boy before joining the Holy Cross Knight Alumni Association. He had a deep passion for fishing, his many trips to the Gulf Coast with his lifelong friends meant very much to him. Richard was actively involved with helping people through their addictions with Alcoholic’s Anonymous for almost 25 years. His aid would prove very valuable to the many men and women he mentored and worked with up until his passing.
Richard is preceded in death by: his parents, sister Diana and brother Bernardino.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Maria, his daughter Genevieve and husband Marice Brown; son Casimiro Garcia and wife Roberta; and his sister Sylvia Garcia. He leaves 6 grandchildren; Brandon, Ymani, Ismael, Jazlyn, Lucas and Logan along with many brothers and sisters-in-law, countless nieces and nephews who will all miss his kind soul, contagious laughter and infectious smile.
The following funeral arrangements have been made for Richard E. Garcia:
Sunset Funeral Home on 1701 Austin Highway will host the services as Pastor Martín Cisneros will lead us on Wednesday February 11, 2026.
The schedule includes:
Visitation/Viewing: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Service: 3:00 pm
Reception: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
