Richard Palacios

Richard Palacios passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family who loved him deeply, on the 16th of January 2011. Richard was born on May 29, 1941, grew up in Laredo, TX and was the son of the late Consuelo and Juvenal Palacios and attended Martin High School.

In 1960, he attended Texas State University in San Marcos, TX where he received his undergraduate and graduate degree. Richard worked at Texas Rehabilitation Commission for 30 years and retired in 1993. He then continued to work as a Special Education Administrator with Edgewood ISD. After retirement Richard continued to enjoy his passions for golf, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family and close friends. Richard was also involved with the Mobile Loaves and Fishes at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Richard was a loving husband to his wife of 41 years, Dolores Ann Palacios and a proud father of his two children, daughter Anna Palacios-LeBlanc and her husband Norman LeBlanc, his son Richard Palacios and girlfriend Michele Reed. His sister Olga Flores of Laredo, TX and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive Richard.

His faith sustained him through all his life. He knew that without God nothing would be possible and he took comfort in knowing that there would be life beyond this one.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Francis of Assis Catholic Church.
