

Richard "Rick" Locke Brooks, age 75, passed away at home on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his beloved wife and children. He was born on October 16, 1946 in Painesville, Ohio to the late Robert (Bob) R. and Beulah (Eskew) Brooks.
Rick proudly served in the U.S. Army for thirty-three years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. During his time in active duty, he served two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. As part of his service, he received many achievements, awards, and commendations during his career.
Rick had a passion for history and loved to travel with his wife and family. He recorded most of his journeys around the world and picked up little trinkets and souvenirs along the way. Upon retirement Rick enjoyed traveling with his wife, tinkering in his garage and researching his family history. He had unwavering faith in his Heavenly Father, it was the foundation upon which he built his life and instilled in his children. His family will miss his big presence in their lives but rejoices knowing he is at peace and resting as the good and faithful servant he was.
He is survived by his wife Kyong of 41 years; son Robert Brooks and wife Samantha, of Maryland, and daughters Monica Wilt and husband Aaron, of Maryland; Mary Brooks, of Texas; and Michelle Brooks of Hawaii; seven grandchildren, Andrew Roman (wife Jessica), Chachi Hanlin (husband Brandon), Katlyn Brooks, Karena Legeer, Jasmine Brooks, Christopher Metheny, and Gianna Smartt; nine great-grandchildren (Gabriel, Donavon, Keaton, Alayna, Trinity, Zaylie, Izaiah, Zane and Hayden). Two brothers, Bill and John Brooks, of Ohio; one sister Janet Johnston, of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Bartlett.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Porter Loring Mortuary West, 1710 W. Loop 1604 North, San Antonio, Texas.
