Rick was a devoted father and loyal friend who was passionate about life in every way. He lived according to Yeats' maxim--for Rick, there were no strangers, only friends he hadn't met.
A gifted athlete, Rick transitioned from being one of the best age group middle distance runners in Texas he ran a 4:09 mile in his 38th year to riding his bicycle through the scenic hill country where he lived. A consummate competitor, Rick would pit himself against any rider, often overtaking much younger cyclists.
Rick will be remembered, whether at work, in sport, or elsewhere, as fun, caring, passionate, friendly and enthusiastic. Some people have the gift of gab; Rick was the world champion. He was a generous man, giving freely of his time and talent.
He is survived by his two children Michael Munroe Shelton, San Antonio, Texas and Elizabeth Elle Megan Shelton, Grey Forest, Texas.
Above all, Rick was a loving and dedicated father; nothing gave him greater joy than his children, who were the center of his life. The walls of his home are covered with candid photos of them from the time they were born to the present. Rick lived for his children, and will live on in them.
