

Richard C. Zamora, born September 24, 1931, to Ricardo C. and Bonifacia Zamora in San Antonio Texas, passed away May 22, 2021, at the age of 89. Richard was born into a family of 5 brothers and 1 sister and is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia; brothers, Johnny and Ynocencio; and daughters, Mary Helen and Margaret.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Eduvigen “Bea” Zamora; sons, Michael, Jerry, and Daniel; brothers, Robert, Tony and Raul Zamora; his 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Excelling as a three-sport athlete in high school, in 1950, Richard was the first South San High School basketball player to achieve All-State honors. He is an inductee to the National Hispanic Sports Hall of Honor. After his playing days were over, Richard went on to touch the lives of many players and students, including Special Olympians. Richard was a prominent referee and umpire, as well as a current member of the St. Luke’s Catholic Church Men’s Club.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary on McCullough. Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou, 78228.
