Bob, age 72, surrounded by his family, peacefully went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in San Antonio. He was born on September 22, 1943 in San Bernardino, California. Bob was a devoted Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Uncle. Bob's greatest joy in life was his true love since kindergarten Sharon, his wife of 50 years, his Grandson Sebastian Nicholas Castorena, who was "the apple of his eye," and his entire family. Bob is survived by: his loving wife Sharon Louise (Cortez) Castorena; Son Michael Anthony Castorena, Son Robert Castorena, Jr., M.D., Daughter In Law, Deborah Louise Castorena and Grandson Sebastian Nicholas Castorena; Brother Mario Castorena, Sisters Olivia Guerrero, Veronica Martinez and Cecilia Limon Castorena; and numerous Nieces, Nephews and God Children - - whom he loved dearly and was so vested in their wellbeing and future. He will be joining the loving company of his parents Gabriel Terrones Castorena and Consuelo Rosas Castorena, his sister Maria Elena "Giggles" Castorena, and his brothers Gabriel T. Castorena, Jr. and Fernando Castorena. Bob's greatest endearing characteristics were his sense of humor, compassion and the warmth with which he welcomed everyone into his and Sharon's home. He lived a life through faith and family. Bob graduated in 1971 from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and in 1974, with a Master of Business Administration from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. He retired as a Major from the U.S. Air Force where he served with Management Engineering Teams and the National Security Agency. After retiring from the Air Force, he was a Federal Employee at Kelly Air Force Base for 16 years, where he served as Production Branch Chief in the Aircraft Division. Upon retiring from Federal Service, he became Vice-President of TEAM Integrated Engineering, Inc. Bob was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Selma, Texas where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Usher and on the Building Committee. He was active in charity, highlighted by serving on the Board for the Sembradores of San Antonio, 2012-2014. Bob also volunteered for many years in youth sports coaching soccer, baseball and basketball teams.
