We come together today to honor and celebrate the life of Robert Dwight Cooper, affectionately known to many as Bob, who passed away on July 6, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on October 14, 1948, in Cumberland, Maryland, Bob was a man whose presence was as robust and warm as his handshake.
Bob's journey led him from the rolling hills of Maryland to the vibrant community of San Antonio, Texas, where he spent his final moments. His passing, due to natural causes, has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy is one of joy, service, and an unyielding zest for life.
A proud veteran, Bob served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force before retiring. His dedication to his nation was matched only by his commitment to his family. He leaves behind a loving brother, William "Bill" Cooper, and two devoted sons, Darrell and Roy Cooper. Darrell's wife, Jessica, and their son, Dominic, as well as Roy's wife, Heather, and their son, James, will forever cherish the memory of a man who was not only a father and grandfather but also a friend.
Bob's interests were as hands-on as his approach to life. A true aficionado of mechanics, he found joy and purpose in working on trains and cars, sharing his knowledge and skills with anyone who shared his passion.
Described by those who knew him as handy, friendly, and interesting, Bob's character was the epitome of a life well-lived. His conversations were as engaging as they were enlightening, and his laughter was a melody that resonated in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As we say farewell to Robert Dwight Cooper, we reflect on a life that was full of purpose and generosity. Bob's story is not just one of a life that has ended, but of a spirit that continues to inspire. He will be profoundly missed, yet his influence will continue to be felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Rest in peace, Bob; your journey was indeed a remarkable one.
