Robert Lee "Bob" De Munbrun passed away Monday, October 30, 2000. Bob was born August 7, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Boltz and Marlowe De Munbrun, Sr. Known affectionately as "Bubba" to his family, Bob is survived by his best friend and sister, Claudia De Munbrun Satcher and her husband Larry Satcher and their sons, Brady Satcher, Bo and his wife Sharon Satcher and O'Brien and his wife Stacy Satcher and the entire Satcher family. He is also survived by his brother, Richard De Munbrun and his wife, Elaine of San Antonio. Bob leaves a special friend and "sister" Angie Huntington and husband, Buddy Huntington and their daughters, Shae and Shannon Huntington. A man who loved the outdoors, he will be missed by his constant companion, jogging mate and precious Airedale, "Leroy". Bob attended Brackenridge High School and graduated from Highlands High School in 1959. He was a graduate of Texas Lutheran University and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He attended St. Mary's University Law School and worked for USAA. He began his teaching career at East Central High School before transferring to North East Independent School District. Bob taught ten years at Lee High School and then moved to James Madison High School in 1977 where he spent the last twenty-three years as a beloved faculty member. He served as Department Chair of the Madison English Department for seventeen years, was named teacher of the year many times, received the Superintendent's Award, was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the P.T.A. and was named the "most influential person" in the lives of many Summa Cum Laude graduates. His warm and nurturing spirit enriched the lives of students and staff members throughout the district. His generosity extended beyond the walls of the classroom to custodians and counselors, principals and para-professionals. His giving nature was part of the fabric of his life. Bob spent many holidays feeding the homeless of San Antonio and the surrounding area. He was a regular volunteer with Meals on Wheels, worked countless times with the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner and volunteered at numerous charities. He gave his time freely to everyone he knew. He helped former students with college and employment papers, he counseled troubled students, he rescued homeless animals and found good homes for them, and sacrificed his own resources to people in need, all the while brushing aside attempts to repay him. Although Bob's passing will leave a void in the lives of all those who knew and loved him, his cheerful, friendly and affectionate nature will be his legacy. The family wishes to say a special thank you to Elyse Allen, Sarah Valentine and Suzanne Stewart.
