Robert Christopher Henderson, age 18, passed from his earthly home on Friday, February 6, 2015 after a life long struggle with a rare mitochondrial disease. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 6, 1996 to Dr. James and Juli Henderson and was the youngest of five children (Jessica Lynn, Eliotte Nicole, James Henry III, Victoria Anne - Robert's twin sister).
He was an 11th grade student in the Special Education Department at Ronald Reagan High School, having already graduated from Stone Oak Elementary School and Barbara Bush Middle School. From an early age, Robert loved SpongeBob and Spiderman, enjoying pictures, stories, and movies about them. He embraced music and dance at all levels of his ability throughout his entire life. He could often be heard singing with his "voice student buddies" in his home, and was famous for his wonderful hugs and kisses. Robert truly lived life to the fullest by cherishing time with his parents, brother, and sisters. He was lovingly cared for by his exceptional team of physicians, nurses, therapists, caregivers, and educators.
The Henderson family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at 'Specially for Children Medical Group, Christus HomeCare, Millennium Home Health Care, Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center, Christus Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program, Thousand Oaks Children's Dentistry, and Porter Loring Mortuaries. The Henderson family would also like to sincerely thank CrossBridge Community Church, the Cherished Chicks, the Henderson LifeGroup, and their extensive community of friends and neighbors for their loving care of the family during this time.
Robert's Life Celebration Service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at CrossBridge Community Church, 25700 Overlook Parkway, San Antonio, TX. Visitation will be at this same location on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Robert's miraculous life touched many people through his frequent video appearances as an Any Baby Can of San Antonio success story. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Robert's name to this wonderful charitable organization.
