

Born in Flint, Michigan, to Philip A. and Leone Mae DuFresne Packard, Robert's parents died when he was a child, leaving him to grow up in an orphanage. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Air Force and while stationed in Bolivia, he met his wife while she was working with the Peace Corps. After leaving the military, they moved to Texas and he began his sales career. Robert was a born salesman with a great smile and engaging personality. He was even known to sell shovels with holes in them. After retiring, Bob enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a Master Gardener and was avid about how to grow everything organically. When not in the garden, the light of his life was being with his grandchildren. Bob was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the Men's Club.
He was preceded in death by, brothers, Gerald and Thomas Packard. Robert is survived by wife of 44 years, Ann Packard; daughter, Joy Ulcak and husband Andrew; grandchildren, Andrew Blake, Mariann and Amanda; brothers, Richard Packard, James Packard and wife Bonnie. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
