Robert graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1963, The University of Texas at Austin, BBA 1967, and subsequently earned an MA English from San Francisco State, California. Before retirement he was employed by USAA.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Eden Rose Armstrong and husband, Brian of Sydney, Australia; grandchildren, Jack Travis Armstrong and Lucas Gregory Armstrong; his former wife, Catherine Travis of Portland, OR, and his sister, Sally Travis Jones and husband, Robert S. Jones of Boerne, TX, as well as nephews, Robert Dean Jones of Florida and Jeffrey Travis Jones of Hawaii and cousins.
